·        Applications are invited from students who require financial assistance to be considered for the above studentships

·        Please read the following information carefully and use the application form provided to apply for these studentships.

• These studentships are available for 10 students who require financial assistance.

• Application form can be downloaded from the FVMAS website.

• Applications need to be submitted along with supporting documents to prove your financial status (Please refer to the application form for further details)

Completed applications together with relevant supporting documents should be handed over in a sealed envelope addressed to the “Senior Assistant Registrar, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, University of Peradeniya, Peradeniya” on or before 16.30 hrs on 01st December 2023.

FACULTY OF VETERINARY MEDICINE AND ANIMAL SCIENCE

UNIVERSITY OF PERADENIYA.

ACADEMIC YEAR 2020/2021

Applications are hereby called from the students who have the following qualifications: arrears

1. The applicant shall be an undergraduate student registered to follow BVSc degree program offered by the faculty.

2. The applicant shall be equally talented in academic and extracurricular activities. Apart from academic merit, other areas of consideration are exceptional leadership of a recognized body, community service and good studentship, outstanding talents in fields of sports, creativity, and exceptional ability in aesthetic or technical fields and research or pursuing new knowledge.

3. The applicant shall have completed all the requirements of the considered year, including all the GPA and non-GPA courses at the first available attempt.

4.  The applicant shall have aggregate marks above 65% in the considered year /or GPA of 3.3 or above in the semester.

5. Any student who obtains an improved grade/grades subsequently, by repeating a course/s shall not be eligible.

6. Any student whose disciplinary action has been taken by the Vice-Chancellor or Deputy Vice Chancellor for any misconduct shall not be eligible.

7. Any applicant has less than 70% of the total marks for the application will not be considered for evaluation.

8. Student shall submit their applications through their Mentors who shall certify the content of the application.

9. Students shall prepare and participate in an interview if the selection panel requests.

Those who fulfill the above provisions may apply along with certified copies of all the documentary evidence (certificates/appropriate evidence) under registered post / Handing over to the Dean’s office on or before 01st December 2022 using the sample application given below, address to Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, University of Peradeniya. THE PERADENIYA UNIVERSITY GOLD MEDAL

(FACULTY OF VETERINARY MEDICINE AND ANIMAL SCIENCE)

FOR EXCELLENCE IN SCHOLASTIC AND EXTRA MURAL EXCELLENCE YEAR 2021 - BATCH 2015/2016

Applications are hereby called from the students who have the following qualifications:

1.Highest academic excellence with Second Class Upper or above

2.Participate actively in Sports, Registered Societies, and Unions, Art Drama Music, and Literary and Creative work during your studentship at the university

3. Excel in research publication

In addition to the above qualifications following provisions shall be considered.

• Shall obtain pass grades in all the courses offered for the degree at his/her 1st attempt.

• No award shall be given to any student against whom disciplinary or legal action is pending or to any student at the University.

• The decision of the Senate shall be final regarding the award of the Medal.

Those who fulfil the above provisions may apply along with copies of certificate / appropriate evidence under the registered post or by handover to the Examination Division on or before 25th August 2022 by using the sample application given below to Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, University of Peradeniya.

Only short-listed applications will be called for the interview. The most successful applicant at the structured interview will be awarded the “Peradeniya University Gold Medal for Excellence in scholastic and extra-mural excellence endowed by the most outstanding student graduating from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, University of Peradeniya”.

Faculty awards – academic year 202/2021

FACULTY OF VETERINARY MEDICINE AND ANIMAL SCIENCE

The Faculty Award for the Academic Year 2020/2021 will be awarded to the overall best performing student of each batch in the BVSc programme.

Areas that are considered in selecting recipients for the awards are:

·         Academic merit

·         Exceptional leadership

·         Community services and good studentship

·         Outstanding talents in field of sports

·         Creativity and exceptional ability in aesthetic or technical field

·         Research or pursuing knowledge

IF YOU THINK YOU ARE ELIGIBLE; PLEASE FOLLOW THE APPLICATION PROCEDURE GIVEN BELOW AND SUBMIT YOUR COMPLETED APPLICATION ON OR BEFORE 25th AUGUST 2022.

Application Procedure

·         Application need to be submitted through your Mentors/Academic Advisers who will be required to certify the content of the applications.

·         Please submit certified copies of all the documentary evidence of your achievements along with the application.

o   Academic achievement at the University can be certified by the Assistant Registrar of the Faculty.

o   Extracurricular achievements need to be certified by a Justice of Peace, Notary Public or an attorney-at-law.

·         If you are shortlisted by the Selection Panel, you will need to prepare and participate for an interview.
